WHAT'S HAPPENING
1. Applying for the Claflin Awards? The OWC is offering help with your application-

If you are applying for a Claflin Award, and would like help preparing your application, the OWC encourages you to take advantage of the pre-award Claflin Consultation Initiative (CCI) for applicants.

The CCI is designed to help eligible faculty prepare their best application for the 2020 Claflin Distinguished Scholar Awards. Many prior Claflin winners have volunteered their time to answer questions and offer guidance and encouragement to potential applicants. Coaches may give advice on all aspects of the application, including the research plan, budget, description of child-rearing responsibilities, and advice for repeat applicants.

2. "Can I Really Write a Book?" on Oct 9-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Communication Series
    Sponsored by the Office for Clinical Careers

Have you ever wondered whether you could write or edit a book? Have you been uncertain about how to get started and how to proceed?

In this interactive seminar, you will learn strategies for formulating your ideas, writing and collaborating on chapters, editing, and finding a publisher.

3. Negotiation Essentials on Oct 30-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Negotiation Series

This interactive workshop will focus on the structure of negotiation by reviewing a systematic approach on preparing to negotiate. A case study example will be used to guide the participants through this process. This session will help you understand the barriers and strategies to successful negotiations.
