A seminar for MGH faculty with HMS academic appointments.

The Center for Faculty Development invites all faculty to attend this special lecture in commemoration of Faculty Development month. This annual event is named in honor of Nancy J. Tarbell, MD, the founding director of the MGH Center for Faculty Development.

2. Beyond the Research Plan: Bits and Pieces of the NIH R01 Grant on May 23-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Communication Series
    Sponsored by the Office for Research Career Development

There are many sections beyond the research plan that are critical for the success of an NIH research grant. This seminar will discuss these R01 application “bits and pieces,” including:
  • budget justification
  • resource sharing plan
  • letters of support/collaboration
  • rigor and reproducibility
  • validation of key resources
  • human subjects and vertebrate animals
Details and examples for each section will be discussed, as well as key criticisms and ‘deal breakers’ that can arise during a grant’s review.

3. Academic Career Advancement Series (ACAS) in June-

If so, please register for the Academic Career Advancement Series (ACAS). The annual ACAS helps MGH faculty better understand the process of academic advancement and promotion. Plan to come and hear how to get promoted! Each panel will feature an MGH faculty from department leadership, a recently promoted faculty colleague, and a representative from the HMS Office for Faculty Affairs.

We would like to bring your attention to the MGH Sexual Harassment Policy now located on the OWC website. The MGH Sexual Harassment Policy details what sexual harassment is and outlines a process for filing internal complaints of sexual harassment.

2. SAVE THE DATE! Massachusetts Equal Pay Law Seminar on May 18-
    Sponsored by the Joint Committee on the Status of Women's Professional Equity Committee (JCSW)

An updated Massachusetts Equal Pay Act (MEPA) will go into effect on July 1, 2018. The Joint Committee on the Status of Women's Professional Equity Committee invites you to learn about the new law.
