1. Managing Difficult Conversations on Mar 1-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Negotiation Series
    Sponsored by the Center for Faculty Development

We all have conversations we avoid, such as raising a sensitive topic with our mentees, colleagues or others. The focus of the session will be on the structure of difficult conversations and the systematic errors we make when trying to discuss sensitive or emotional topics. In addition, it will explore the mental shifts that can help you change your difficult conversations into learning conversations.

3. Managing Your Lab in the Electronic Age on Mar 14-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Lab Management Series

Are you transitioning your lab to an electronic lab notebook?

This program will discuss how the management of a research program evolves with the use of an electronic lab notebook (ELN). Using an ELN can mean changes in how you lead your lab, including oversight of experiments and lab meetings; and preparation of grants and publications. Come hear how PIs have achieved this transition, and enhanced their lab management.

4. Speaking Up and Giving Feedback: Mastering Conversations Up and Down the Ladder on Apr 11-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Communication Series

Seminar for MGH faculty with HMS academic appointments.

This interactive workshop will discuss the importance of speaking up across authority gradients, as well as giving effective receiver-focused feedback. An array of strategies and techniques will be taught and demonstrated. Using simulated cases, participants will have opportunities to practice these skills in a safe and supported environment.
