Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) at MGH
The CCM’s mission is threefold: (1) provide reliable, affordable, and responsive laboratory animal care and research services to MGH investigators in pursuit of scientific knowledge and medical breakthroughs for patients and their families; (2) avoid or minimize pain and distress in animals under our care; (3) maintain a fulfilling, respectful, and safe workplace for our employees.

Environmental Health and Safety Office at MGH
The mission of the Environmental Health and Safety Office is to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors, and staff in all MGH locations by supporting programs that provide an environment free of recognized hazards; to effectively manage behavior-based risks of injury and illness; to avoid property loss and adverse, internal or external, environmental impacts; and to train personnel to interact effectively with all aspects of their work environment.

Making the Right Moves: A Practical Guide to Scientific Management for Postdocs and New Faculty, 2nd ediion
Based on workshops co-sponsored by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund and HHMI, this book is a collection of practical advice and experiences from seasoned biomedical investigators and includes chapters on laboratory leadership, getting funded, project management, and teaching and course design.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)at MGH
Institutions that receive federal funds or use species covered by the Animal Welfare Act are required, by the Public Health Service (PHS) and USDA, to appoint an IACUC to review all research, teaching or testing activities involving animals and to oversee and evaluate the animal care and use program. The MGH IACUC satisfies the requirements of both agencies. The mission of the IACUC is to ensure that all animals used in research, teaching and testing are cared for and used in a humane manner consistent with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and guidelines.  Guidelines for IACUC structure and function are included in the PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and in the USDA Animal Welfare Act.

Partners Institutional Biosafety Committee
The Partners Institutional Biosafety Committee (PIBC) performs the NIH mandated function of reviewing and approving preclinical and clinical research involving recombinant DNA (rDNA), infectious agents, and human and nonhuman primate materials, and biological toxins. The PIBC’s mission is to promote safety and minimize the risks of performing Biological Research to Partners investigators, study participants, the community, and the environment by providing scientific review and oversight to human subjects and laboratory Biological Research at PIBC institutions.

Partners Purchasing & Materials Management (MM) Department
Partners HealthCare System has launched an online requisitioning system called eBuy. The software, called eProcurement, facilitates the placement of orders for all goods and services right from any PHS desktop. eProcurement provides comprehensive tracking of the requisition from order placement right through invoice payment.
