1. How to Format Your HMS CV on Feb 7-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Career Advancement Series
    Sponsored by the Center for Faculty Development

A seminar for MGH faculty with HMS academic appointments.

The Office for Faculty Affairs at HMS will review details of the HMS CV format, including any recent changes to the formatting requirements. This seminar is particularly helpful for faculty who are thinking about or preparing for academic promotion.

2. Postdoc to Industry: What to Expect on Jan 30-
    Postdoc Development Seminar: Career Advancement Series
    Sponsored by the Mass General Postdoc Association (MGPA)

Former MGH postdocs describe their experience with moving into industry positions. Topics will include how they obtained the position, how they managed the transition with their academic coworkers, and how life in an industry job has differed from academic life.

3. Responsibilities of Mentors and Mentees on Feb 26-
    Responsible Conduct of Research Series

This seminar will discuss the characteristics of good mentoring relationships at all stages of a research career, including:
 • What are the best practices for an effective mentor?
 • How do you make the transition from mentee to mentor?
 • How can you build and maintain your mentoring network?

   Career Development, Director of the Program in Membrane Biology, and Associate Director of
   the Center for Systems Biology, MGH

This “mock” study section will provide a window into the NIH grant review process. The session will also feature MGH faculty with extensive NIH study section experience.
