Academic Career Advancement Series (ACAS)
The annual Academic Career Advancement Series (ACAS) helped MGH faculty better understand the process of academic advancement and promotion. Each panel featured an MGH faculty from department leadership, a recently promoted faculty colleague, and a representative from the HMS Office for Faculty Affairs.

Speaking Up and Giving Feedback: Mastering Conversations Up and Down the Ladder

  Fellowship, Dept. of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine, MGH
This interactive workshop discussed the importance of speaking up across authority gradients, as well as giving effective receiver-focused feedback. An array of strategies and techniques had been taught and demonstrated. Using simulated cases, participants had opportunities to practice these skills in a safe and supported environment.

Drafting Your Chief's Letter

This interactive session focused on the structure and components of the department head nominating letter also known as 'the Chief's Letter'. Using a real life example, participants learnt how to write a compelling and convincing letter for the Harvard Medical School promotion committees and convey their story in order for their promotion to move forward.
