1. Importance of Being Mentored While in Graduate School on Dec 5-
    Graduate Student Division Seminar: Leadership Series

Why is mentoring important while in graduate school? Come listen to one of the MGH GSD Principal Investigator (PI) Mentoring Award winners, Raul Mostoslavsky, MD, PhD, Laurel Schwartz Associate Professor of Oncology and Professor of Medicine, HMS; Kristine and Bob Higgins MGH Research Scholar, MGH Cancer Center; and Associate Member, the Broad Institute. He will cover how to:

    •  Interact with your PI/mentor.
    •  Develop your own vision of good mentoring.
    •  Recognize the basics of good mentoring.

2. Conflict Management at Work on Jan 8-
    Co-Sponsored with the Center for Faculty Development

A seminar for MGH faculty with HMS academic appointments and PhD graduate students in research.

This seminar explored the benefits of understanding conflict and provide a pragmatic, situational approach to conflict resolution. Melissa Brodrick demonstrated how and when to use the conflict-handling styles effectively and coach participants to initiate productive dialogue to deal with conflict situations.

If you are interested in professional advice for your CV/Resume to help you in your future career, the MGH Graduate Student Division is offering limited individual advising sessions for graduate students and research fellows at MGH with Lauren Celano, MBA, Founder and CEO, Propel Careers.

You will receive advice on topics such as:
    •   Building an academia and/or industry focused resume and cover letter
    •   Highlighting transferable skills
    •   Focusing on the content and structure
