MGH New Faculty Orientation

An opportunity for new faculty who joined MGH from October 2017 to October 2018 to hear from senior faculty leaders and familiarize yourself with key information to enhance your MGH experience.

A three-hour session designed to provide an overview of the MGH environment and faculty resources focusing on:
    •  MGH and MGPO Overview
    •  MGH Research Institute Overview
    •  Teaching and Education Environment Overview
    •  Introduction to HMS and the promotion process
    •  Center for Faculty Development Overview and more!

Can I Really Write a Book?

A seminar for MGH faculty with HMS academic appointments.

Have you ever wondered whether you could write or edit a book? Have you been uncertain about how to get started and how to proceed?

In this interactive seminar, you will learn strategies for formulating your ideas, writing and collaborating on chapters, editing, and finding a publisher.

Faculty Development Seminar: Negotiation Series

Dealing with Difficult Tactics

A seminar for MGH faculty with HMS academic appointments.

In this advanced interactive seminar, participants will learn strategies on how to handle negotiators who use difficult tactics, stonewalling, and hard-bargaining
at the negotiation table. The session will combine lecture and in-class demonstration to equip participants with a menu of responses to increase the likelihood of neutralizing difficult behaviors and producing cooperative and value-creating outcomes.

In large groups, do you struggle to get your voice heard?


Speaking up clearly is an important leadership skill. Whether leading a team or navigating an academic career, representing yourself is critical to your success. During this interactive session, we examine common roadblocks to effective assertion and offer practical tips to help professionals speak up more effectively.
