1. Scholarly Writing Seminar Series Parts I & II in Mar -
    Faculty Development Seminar: Communication Series
    Sponsored by the Office for Clinical Careers

A seminar series for MGH clinical faculty with HMS academic appointments.

This two-part seminar series will help clinicians improve their scholarly writing and their productivity. Participants will learn how to:
    •  Clarify interests and goals
    •  Select a target audience for writing
    •  Create an outline
    •  Avoid obsessive perfectionism

2. Managing Difficult Conversations on Mar 11 -
    Faculty Development Seminar: Negotiation Series

This 3-hr session is for MGH faculty with HMS academic appointments.

We all have conversations we avoid, such as raising a sensitive topic with our boss, colleagues or others.

The focus of the session will be on the structure of difficult conversations and the systematic errors we make when trying to discuss sensitive or emotional topics. In addition, it will explore the mental shifts that can help you change your difficult conversations into learning conversations.

3. Making the Most of Your Annual Career Conference (ACC) on Apr 28-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Career Advancement Series

This session will cover tips for leaders to give a successful ACC as well as the faculty member preparing and making the most of their ACC. Come learn about how the ACC is an opportunity to discuss achievements, career goals, HMS trajectory and mentoring.

4. GET INVOLVED TO GET PROMOTED: Review abstracts for the PDD 2020 Research Fellow
    Poster Celebration-

Instructors and Assistant Professors are invited to volunteer as abstract reviewers for the PDD's 2020 Research Fellows Poster Celebration. Each year, MGH research fellows submit abstracts for the celebration, and the review committee helps to select winners of awards given at the celebration. This is a great opportunity to help the MGH research community and gain experience as a reviewer.

The single-stream application is now open for current award opportunities managed by the 2020 Eleanor and Miles Shore Faculty Development Awards Program. This is an umbrella program to support the Faculty of Medicine at the level of Instructor and Assistant Professor by administering a range of award opportunities to support academic activities at the same time they are assuming increased family or other responsibilities.

2. Maximizing Mentee-Mentor Relationships: Empowering the Mentee in May-
    Sponsored by the Harvard Catalyst

Emphasizing the perspective of the mentee, this two-day course explores strategies for successful mentoring relationships through case studies, lectures, and interactive sessions. Each session addresses critical issues such as: expectations and responsibilities; pitfalls and challenges; and communication and career development. Participants will learn practical tools for empowering their own mentee-mentor relationships, and discuss the impact these relationships can have on both personal and academic success.
