CFD From Our Office to Yours...

Dr. Miriam Bredella Appointed as New Director of the
Center for Faculty Development!

Dr. Bredella

We are pleased to announce that Miriam Bredella, MD, has been selected as the new Director for the MGH Center for Faculty Development (CFD). Miriam will begin her new role effective February 1, 2020, taking over the CFD helm from Dr. Ted Stern, who has been serving as interim Director since April, when Dr. Anne Klibanski stepped down to serve as interim CEO of Partners HealthCare.

We are deeply appreciative of the interim role Dr. Stern assumed in addition to his ongoing role as the Director of the Office for Clinical Careers (OCC) within the CFD. He will continue as OCC Director and become a valued advisor to Dr. Bredella as she assumes the CFD directorship in February.

Dr. Bredella brings a wealth of mentoring and management expertise to her new position. She is professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, a musculoskeletal radiologist and researcher, and vice chair for Faculty Affairs in the Department of Radiology at MGH. Dr. Bredella established a department-wide mentoring program for junior faculty, a Radiology Leadership Academy (which supports physicians and non-physicians in leadership roles), and a management and leadership curriculum for radiologists. She led initiatives to fight physician burnout and designed a compensation model for Radiology researchers, which allows an unbiased assessment of compensation. Dr. Bredella is also the co-director and co-PI of the Harvard KL2/Catalyst Medical Research Investigator Training Program where she mentors clinical translational researchers across all Harvard hospitals and specialties. She has been elected to be a member of the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program Steering Committee. Dr. Bredella is an active member of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Forces at MGH and Harvard Medical School where she is involved in strategic planning of faculty career development and designed successful initiatives for increasing diversity in research operations.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Bredella to her new role as director of our Center for Faculty Development and in thanking Dr. Stern for his steadfast leadership as interim CFD director.
